Nans Journey It’s not often I get a chance to read a book by a self-published author.  I love the opportunity to be among the first to discover and author, so when I got the chance to review Nan’s Journey by Elaine Littau, I jumped!

The Plot: Fifteen year old Nan knows that she must escape her abusive step-parents if she and her six year old brother are to survive.  So late one night in frontier Colorado, Nan takes her brother, Elmer, and heads off into the unknown.

They find solace at the home of Fred Young, a preacher who knows his share of loss.  Together they must learn that forgiveness and hope in the Lord is the only way to find true peace.

My Take: The storyline was fantastic!  Elaine Littau has a knack for weaving a story to highlight the despair that leads us to search for Christ, the hope we find in Him, and His forgiveness, which brings true healing.

As a self-published book, Nan’s Journey is not as polished as a book published with the benefit of an experienced editor.  But if you can look past the rough edges, you will find that Nan’s Journey is a story with good bones.  I’m looking forward to reading more from Elaine Littau.  I think with a good publisher and editor, she will be a very successful author.

Nan’s Journey get’s 3 and a half out of 5 stars.
